Community Development
In a region of Nicaragua that used to depend solely on sugar cane farming, Finca Del Mar generates both secure, healthy income and employment. Finca Del Mar and our companion project Los Cardones Surf Lodge employ 36 local men and women, providing fair wages, social security and stability for their families.
We are committed to generating income around us by supporting local entrepreneurs in their initiatives, such as transportation, furniture making, vegetable farms, and masonry. We honor this commitment to support the local communities who have called this region home for many generations.

Keeping it Green
Our community is engineered to sustain and preserve the native trees, waterways, ocean, historical sites, and natural life all around Finca Del Mar. We conserve indigenous plants and species though the creation of 18 acres of nature reserves throughout the development. Our community landscaping uses only indigenous flora and we maintain community composting facilities to recycle kitchen waste and garden clippings. This composting is used in turn to fertilize our lush gardens.
Recycle and Reuse
We recycle under our own strong community policies at Finca Del Mar. Our innovative garbage collection system uses the best of Nicaraguan recycling opportunities. This results in less waste in our community, and less waste headed for the nation's landfills.

Smart Energy Choices
We make it easy for our residents to explore and adapt renewable energy sources available to supplement electricity from the grid. Our technical expertise and contacts in the industry can assist you in saving money and helping keep Nicaragua green. Solar panels, wind turbines, smart insulation, natural ventilation, and green construction are just a few of the modern, intelligent approaches that keep energy costs down without sacrificing comfort.

Commitment to the Community
Finca Del Mar is planned for the long-term. By employing local residents and maintaining ongoing involvement with the neighboring communities, we work toward supporting sustainable development of the local community. Our main focus is placed on improving the standards of education in area villages. To accomplish this, we donate a percentage of proceeds from the Finca Del Mar development to local schools.
